Intel Computer Clubhouse Network

The Pearson Foundation is pleased to have partnered with Intel and the MIT Media Lab to develop a custom library of resources and learning materials for global use by members of the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network. We interviewed Intel Computer Clubhouse coordinators, recruited Pearson employees to serve as Clubhouse mentors, and worked firsthand with young people in Computer Clubhouses around the world. Then, we created the Intel Computer Clubhouse Activity Guide Library—a print and online library of 20 hands-on projects in use in each of the more than 100 Computer Clubhouses that are part of the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network.

The Intel Computer Clubhouse Activity Guide Library helps Computer Clubhouse members get started exploring print design, web design, audio & animation, and digital storytelling activities. Each guide offers images of real Clubhouse members and highlights work completed by Clubhouse members from around the world. In addition to student Activity Guides, the Library includes supporting materials, posters, and case studies in print and online.

The Activity Guide Library provides a framework for Clubhouse members to design and complete a project of their own choosing by using resources available in every Intel Computer Clubhouse, including the Clubhouse Audio Studio, Clubhouse printers, and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Macromedia Flash, and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Each project presents members with samples of finished work as reference and then encourages them to develop their own version of the project—a calendar, a website, an animation, or a video presentation, for example—with step-by-step instructions available as guidance.
